About Us

WEAP History

WEAP is a Philippine registered non-profit, non-stock organization established to provide practicing professionals with the information and tools necessary to address environmental protection in the Philippines These include professional development and enrichment, access to technical information, business contacts, promotion of high technical standards and improved public awareness and understanding of environmental issues.

In 1994, the United States-Asia Environmental Partnership send the first Philippine Delegation to the Annual Weftec Exhibit and Conference held in Chicago. The delegates conceived the idea of establishing a Member Association of the Water Environment Federation (WEF) based in U.S.A. . Hence, WEAP was formed.

On September 21, 1995, WEAP was officially inaugurated with Ms. Marsha Shutty, international program manager of the WEF as the special guest of honor. The chartered members were officially inducted during the inauguration. Engr. Porthos Alma Jose was elected as chartered President.

On September 30, 1996, WEAP was officially registered with the Security Exchange Commission. A General Assembly was held where the first Members of the Board of Officers and Directors were officially elected with Engr. Porthos Alma Jose as president.
